What you get, and which pieces go together.
Which base takes which seat?
- Graco publishes a single list of which infant seats fit which Graco bases (GoMax, Premier, SnugLock with load leg, SnugRide Lite, SnugFit and SnugLock bases). Graco says this list overrides what any individual manual says. Graco manual (PDF)
Used or passed down
Check these before the first ride.
Which version is it?
When does the car seat expire?
- Stop using the SnugRide SnugFit 35 7 years after its date of manufacture. That date is on a label on the back of the seat. Graco manual (PDF)
- The SnugRide SnugLock 35 manual gives the same rule: stop using the seat 7 years after the date of manufacture, which is on a label on the back. Graco manual (PDF)
How do I hear about a recall?
- Mail the prepaid postcard attached to the harness, or register online at gracobaby.com/carseatregistration, so Graco can reach you in a recall. Graco manual (PDF)
- To register you need the model number, serial number and date of manufacture. They are on the registration card and on a white label on the back or bottom of the seat. Graco's registration covers only seats bought in the US. (Graco page as archived on 2024-02-29.) Graco help article (archived copy)
Care and warranty
Keeping it clean, and what the maker covers.
How do I clean it?
- The SnugFit 35 seat pad and canopy can be machine-washed cold with gentle soap on a delicate cycle, then drip-dried. No bleach. Graco manual (PDF)
- Harness straps and lower-anchor straps only get a surface wash with mild soap and a damp cloth. Never soak them, because that can weaken them. Graco manual (PDF)
- The Modes Nest stroller seat fabric is not machine-washable. Wipe it with mild soap without soaking it, and use no bleach. Graco manual (PDF)
What does the warranty cover?
- Graco's limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the first purchase. You need the sales receipt as proof. (Graco page as archived on 2024-04-15.) Graco product page (archived copy)
- The warranty does not cover misuse, not following the instructions, changes to the product, accidents, or normal wear and tear. (Graco page as archived on 2024-04-15.) Graco product page (archived copy)

Common Graco problems and the maker's answers
- Check that this seat and stroller are listed as compatible, and take your baby out before attaching the seat.
- Look for dirt or anything stuck in the stroller's attachment points and the seat's connectors.
- If your stroller needs adapters, make sure they are fitted correctly and fully secured.
- Take the seat off, press the release lever and check the latch plungers on both sides move freely; if one sticks, the seat can't lock on.
- Lower the seat straight down, facing the way the stroller manual says, until it clicks, then pull up gently to confirm. Don't use it until it is locked.
- Line the seat up with the base before lowering it in.
- Push down on the front of the seat and on the handle until you hear or feel a click, then pull up on the front corners to test it.
- Check the base itself is installed tightly and sits level as your manual describes.
- To take it out, squeeze the release handle on the back of the seat and lift straight up while holding it.
- If it still won't latch or release, don't force it; that can damage the latch. Contact Graco.
- Take out toys, blankets, cup holders or anything else that could be in the way.
- Put the seat, footrest and child tray (if it has one) in the right position for folding.
- Make sure no seat or canopy fabric is caught in the fold joints, and check the joints for dirt.
- Press the fold buttons, levers or handles all the way, on a flat surface, and try again.
- Don't force it closed; that can damage the stroller.
- Release the storage latch on the side of the stroller first; while it is engaged it keeps the stroller locked shut.
- Check no fabric or straps are caught in the frame, and clear any dirt around the joints.
- Stand it on flat, level ground and press the release buttons or levers fully, as your manual shows.
- Don't force it open.
- Put the buckle in a cup of warm water and swish it gently, pressing the red button several times while it's in the water.
- Don't put the buckle strap in the water, and don't use soap, detergent or lubricant.
- Shake out the water and let it air dry; repeat until it fastens with a click.
- Put the buckle back in the same slot it came from and pull up on it to check it is secure.
- Take the seat pad off and find the harness adjuster at the front of the seat.
- Vacuum out crumbs and small objects with the hand tool, then clear the grooves with a cotton swab.
- Buckle the harness, close the chest clip and tighten it.
- Pull the straps toward you without touching the release lever; they should not loosen.
- Both are printed on the serial number label.
- On traditional strollers, look on the rear leg or under the footrest.
- On umbrella strollers, look on the X-shaped tubes under the seat.
- It is also listed on the product page at gracobaby.com and in the owner's manual.
- Graco stamps the expiration information into the bottom or back of each seat, as a "Do Not Use After" date.
- Seats expire six to ten years after they were made, depending on the model.
- Check the date of manufacture on the white serial number label on the seat.
- Graco recommends replacing the seat on or before that date.
