Which strollers are easiest to carry and fold?

The short answer
Weight and the fold decide it. The lightest we have is the Stokke YOYO² at 13.6 lb; 21 strollers have makers who describe a one-hand fold. Weights aren't all measured the same way, though.
Pick your stroller for its fold, step by step, and what its maker says when it won't fold.

One-step compact fold: Folds in one step into a compact package.
Fold
- Take your child out of the seat.
- You can fold with or without the seat on, but never with the seat facing backward.
- For the smallest fold, turn the seat to face forward and set the backrest fully upright.
- Pull up on the quick-fold handles and let the frame collapse; pressing down on the frame with your thumb makes the handles easier to lift.
- Check that the storage lock lever clicks into place.
The maker warns: DO NOT fold the stroller with the seat rear-facing.
Unfold
- Pull the storage lock lever to unlock the folded stroller.
- Lift the handlebar away from the lower frame until the stroller clicks into place.
- Stand the stroller upright.
- Make sure all the locks are engaged before use.

Stokke YOYO²
13.6 lb. Stokke product page (archived copy)
Cabin-size fold: Folds to 20.5 x 17.3 x 7.1 in, a size most airlines accept as cabin luggage (check yours).
Fold
- Pull the stroller back a little so both front wheels point straight, facing outward.
- Put the brake on so the frame stays still, and check the wheels still face outward.
- Press both handlebar buttons at once and fold the handle down against the frame (it does not lock there).
- Reach under the handle to the bottom of the frame, press and hold the white button on the red/orange bracket, and pull the bracket toward you until it clicks; then let go.
- Grip the folded handlebar together with the central metal bar and lift the stroller by them so it folds; if a wheel catches, straighten it.
- With the wheels facing outward (you can see the white plastic parts above the front wheels), latch the fold hook under the frame onto the central metal bar.
- Carry it by the shoulder strap with the wheels facing out and the handle toward you.
The maker warns: If you are walking with your child while carrying the folded stroller, keep your child on the side away from the stroller.
I can't get my YOYO to fold
- Pull the stroller back a little so both front wheels point straight and outward, then put the brake on.
- Press the two buttons on the handlebar together and fold the handle down against the frame (it does not lock there).
- Reach under the frame, press and hold the white button on the red/orange bracket, and pull the bracket toward you until it clicks; then let go.
- Grab the folded handlebar and the central metal bar together and lift; the frame folds. If a wheel catches, turn it straight again.
- With the wheels facing outward, hook the fold hook under the frame onto the central metal bar.
The fold hook on my folded YOYO won't latch
- Check the front wheels: they must face outward, so you can see the white springs on the front wheel legs.
- If you cannot see the white parts, the wheels are turned the wrong way. Do not press harder, or you may break the armrest.
- Turn the wheels straight and outward, then latch the fold hook again.
My YOYO won't stay locked open after I unfold it
- Make sure no fabric is in the way of the lock. The carry strap is the most common culprit.
- Check the folding mechanism for anything stuck inside; repair partners have found toys, gummy bears and pebbles in there.
- Never force the lock closed; that can cause permanent damage. If you cannot find the cause, contact Stokke.

Several strollers only fold with the toddler seat facing forward
Mockingbird Single Stroller 2.0, UPPAbaby Vista V3, UPPAbaby Vista V2, UPPAbaby Cruz V3
What the maker says
- My Mockingbird won't fold with the seat or car seat adapter on: The stroller folds only when toddler seats face forward. If a seat faces you, take it off, turn it around and reattach it. With Chicco or Graco car seat adapters, move the support bar down before folding. The original ring-style Nuna adapter (bought before August 2022) has to come off to fold the Single Stroller. Take off the riding board (leave its hub on) before folding. Mockingbird help article

The most common reason a YOYO won't lock open is its own carry strap
Stokke YOYO²
What the maker says
- My YOYO won't stay locked open after I unfold it: Make sure no fabric is in the way of the lock. The carry strap is the most common culprit. Check the folding mechanism for anything stuck inside; repair partners have found toys, gummy bears and pebbles in there. Never force the lock closed; that can cause permanent damage. If you cannot find the cause, contact Stokke. Stokke help article
