How to install the Maxi-Cosi Mico Luxe+ in the car
Pick how you're putting it in. Each way is from the maker's manual.
Base with LATCH
Where it can go: Rear-facing only. Never in a seat with an active frontal airbag. Only on forward-facing vehicle seats, never on side- or rear-facing seats. The maker says children are safer in rear seating positions. The load leg is optional (on select models).
1If your base has a load leg, unfold it but do not extend it to the floor yet.
2Check the base angle indicator is fully green; if not, squeeze the adjustment handle at the back and move the base foot to another position.
3Lift the release lever, take the LATCH connectors out of storage and attach them to the vehicle's lower anchors.
4Push the release lever down so the LATCH belts can tighten.
5Push down on the base: the belts retract and tighten until the tightness indicators turn fully green.
6Extend the load leg until it meets the floor, lift the front of the base to lock it, and keep it perpendicular to the floor.
7Attach the car seat and recheck the level line.
Check it before you drive
Angle indicator and tightness indicators completely green, no red showing.
Held at the belt path, the base should not move more than 1 in. (2.5 cm) side to side.
Level line parallel with the ground; redo if not.
Do not use the load leg if it does not reach the floor or on top of a floor storage compartment.
Retold from Maxi-Cosi manual (PDF). Your vehicle's manual also says which seats have LATCH anchors. When in doubt, a certified child passenger safety technician can check your install.

The newborn insert
What Maxi-Cosi says about the insert
1Infant head support: make sure it never covers your baby's face.
2You can take the head support out for bigger babies by pulling it off the harness straps.
3Body pillow: undo the buckle, pull it through the slot in the pillow, then slide the pillow out from behind the harness straps.
4Harness covers: if they get in the way of placing the chest clip or of a snug fit on a small baby, take them off and store them until your baby is big enough.
The maker warns: When using the infant head support, make sure it does not cover your child's face in any way.
