Pick how you're putting it in. Each way is from the maker's manual.
No base, LATCH
Where it can go: Rear-facing only; never in a front seat with an active frontal airbag. Only in LATCH positions the vehicle maker designates, with standard 11 in. anchor spacing. Never use the LATCH belt and the vehicle belt together, and never use the LATCH belt with the LATCH bin removed.
1Secure your child in the carrier, pick a seat with LATCH, lock the vehicle seat back upright and lock the carry handle upright.
2Place the carrier rear-facing and tilt it until the blue recline line is parallel with the ground.
3Open the LATCH bin door, unclip the connectors, take out the LATCH belt and close the door; lengthen the belt with the adjuster button.
4Click the connector farthest from the adjuster onto the lower anchor on the child's right, red button facing out.
5Route the belt flat through both blue LATCH/Lap Belt Guides and click the other connector onto the anchor on the child's left.
6Press the carrier into the seat back with your body while pulling the free end of the LATCH belt tight.
Check it before you drive
Carrier moves no more than 1 in. (2.5 cm) at the belt path.
Blue recline line is parallel with the ground (loosen slightly and adjust if not).
LATCH belt is flat, untwisted and in both guides.
Retold from Clek help article. Your vehicle's manual also says which seats have LATCH anchors. When in doubt, a certified child passenger safety technician can check your install.

The newborn insert
What Clek says about the insert
1The seat comes with the newborn support cushion already in place.
2It must be used for babies under 11 lb and whenever the tops of the shoulders are below the lowest harness slots.
3To remove it: lift the cushion off the seat, pull the buckle down through the buckle slot in the cushion, and take it out.
4To put it back: lay it on the seat with its buckle slot over the crotch buckle, and pull the buckle and buckle pad up through the slot.
5After adding or removing it, check the shoulder straps are still in the slots at or just below the shoulders, and move them if needed.
6The headrest must be used at all times.
The maker warns: Never use the newborn support cushion once your baby's shoulders are at or above the top harness slots with the cushion in.
Rear-facing only, on forward-facing vehicle seats with the seat back locked upright. Never on a front seat with an active frontal airbag, and a front seat only if the vehicle manual allows it. With an inflatable belt, do not wrap the shoulder belt around the carrier. If the shoulder belt is too short, the manual gives a fallback: shift the carrier more upright to wrap it, or leave the shoulder belt against the seat back.
