The death toll stands at two: a 65-year-old man swept away in Kerr County and a 74-year-old man whose car was washed off a flooded road in Uvalde County. The floods, while less deadly than last year's catastrophe, still resulted in hundreds of rescues, highlighting the ongoing vulnerability of the region. Despite the grim circumstances, the community's response has been a testament to its strength. The automated warning system, developed by River Sentry, detected water levels and sounded deafening alarms, ensuring that people received timely alerts. The recovery process has begun, with the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country setting up a relief fund to support nonprofit organizations involved in the cleanup and rebuilding efforts. Governor Greg Abbott also encouraged donations to the Rebuild Texas Fund.
