She explained that she collaborated with a fellow Stanford student to create a suit that beautifully weaves together her Chinese heritage and personal inspirations, all while paying homage to the 2022 Beijing Games. The suit's striking bone white base is a deliberate choice, evoking the elegance of Chinese ceramics, often referred to as "China." This pristine canvas serves as the perfect backdrop for vibrant blue graphics and subtle pale golden highlights. But the artistry doesn't stop there!

Adorning the sleeve, you'll find a magnificent Chinese-style dragon, a powerful symbol that Gu credits with bringing her strength and courage during her previous Olympic triumphs. She mentioned, "I had to bring in the dragon element which was relevant at the last Olympics as well. It brought me strength, it brought me courage, it served me well, so I wanted to keep that." Below this, another fierce dragon patch is paired with her name emblazoned in bold letters. Adding a touch of urban flair, her name also appears in a graffiti-like script beneath a flap near her neck, cleverly concealed by a white bib that maintains the suit's pristine aesthetic.
But Eileen Gu's suit is more than just a fashion statement; it's a testament to her multifaceted personality. One of the most fascinating features is a thermometer that changes color with the ambient temperature. "I was obsessed with mood rings when I was little," she shared, explaining, "Like, you know, you put them on and they change color with temperature. And so it’s a color changing thermometer." This playful nod to her childhood fascination adds a unique, interactive element.
Furthermore, a tiny compass is integrated into the design, a detail Gu explained as a nod to her intellectual curiosity. Given her early admission to Stanford after excelling on the SAT, this element speaks to her sharp mind. "I just wanted a little modular element for my little nerd brain to nerd out on. But in case you get lost, I can tell you which way is north," she quipped.
